ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Islamabad Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said that 17-year-old TikTok star Sana Yousaf was shot and killed at her home by a 22-year-old man who had been contacting her online several times before. The man was apprehended soon after.

Sana, who had more than a million followers on social media, was killed on Monday night after the suspect spent hours hanging around outside her house.  The IG called the crime a “gruesome and cold-blooded murder” because the victim had been turned down several times.

The influencer had more than 800,000 followers on TikTok, where she shared lip-sync videos, beauty tips, and advertising.  The last video she posted, only a few hours before she died, showed her cutting a birthday cake.

People who commented on the video said things like “Rest in Peace” and asked for justice.  In Pakistan, violence against women is still a big problem, especially after marriage proposals are turned down. In recent years, some high-profile cases have gotten a lot of attention and anger.
