Part of PTI Central Secretariat in Islamabad dismantled due to ‘violation’

PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub said he will bring up the issue in parliament, denouncing late-night activities.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which was formed by Imran Khan, strongly condemned the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) demolition of a portion of the party’s Central Secretariat in the federal capital due to a “violation of building rules.”

The CDA said in a statement that an operation to remove encroachment and unlawful construction was started late on Thursday by its anti-encroachment team. The procedure started at about 11:30 p.m. and ended an hour later.

Furthermore, it stated that the plot was assigned in the name of a person by the name of Sartaj Ali and that interference by a “political party” was being removed.

According to the CDA, the plot’s construction of an extra floor was done against the building codes. The government agency went on to say that notices had been sent to the party, but to no effect.

While the operation was in progress, the PTI requested that its employees come to the secretariat right away. The party declared that the office is being demolished in a “illegal and unjust manner” by the government.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan refuted the body’s assertions that it had handed the formerly ruling party several notices, claiming that they had not received any directives from the CDA.

He further stated that although CDA representatives were requested to submit documentation pertaining to the operation, they were unable to do so. “If there had been any encroachments and they had informed us about them earlier, we would have removed them ourselves,” he maintained.

PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub, speaking to the media outside the office, vehemently denounced the late-night move and stated that the party would bring up the CDA in the assembly.

He declared, “The PTI condemns the CDA action in the strongest terms,” drawing comparisons between the operation and Israel’s war on Gaza, where thousands of people have died and starvation is being exploited as a weapon.

According to Ayub, the operation was started at night without any prior notice by the local government. He further mentioned that party leader Amir Mughal had been taken into custody by police.

The CDA personnel slapped the directive on the PTI central office and sealed it after the operation was over.

PTI members fought attempts by the government to destroy the office during this process, which resulted in the capital city authorities arresting some party employees.
